TEACHER

Name: Mrs. Abeille, Martha

Class: 8th grade Spanish

I was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Monterrey is recognized for its industrial, commercial and educational strength (I.T.E.S.M, U.A.N.L ...). Monterrey is the 3rd largest city (3 millions) after Mexico-City and Guadalajara.

I graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León (U.A.N.L) where I earned a Bachelor Degree in Applied Linguistics with emphasis in Translation. I intend to enroll in a Graduate degree program this year.

I started my teaching career in private bilingual schools: Instituto San Roberto and Instituto Americano Anáhuac. In 2002, I moved to Massachusetts to marry my husband. During the following three years, I taught Intermediate and Advanced Spanish Courses to high school students, at the South Shore Charter Public School, Norwell, MA.

For the third year, I have the privilege of teaching Spanish at King Philip Middle School. Spanish is a challenging and important course. My goal is to prepare my students for the upcoming high school curriculum. Throughout the school year, students will engage in activities and projects that will increase their knowledge of the Spanish-speaking culture. Attitude, hard work and dedication are key words for success.

Among many of my hobbies, the one I enjoy the most is creating computer animations that I can later use to teach my students.

Learning a foreign language is great and fun

The purpose to learn Spanish is to be able to communicate with millions of Spanish-speaking people around the world. At the end of the school year you will be able to have a conversation in Spanish.
